The Royal Family
The Royal Family are those who are related to HM the Queen, ending at the First Cousin of the Queen. Depending on the relation to the Queen, each member of the Royal Family has a specific Title of Royalty, which includes their respective title (Prince, Duke, Earl, etc.) and their location of reference (Town, City, County, etc.). The Queen has the final say as to whom is considered an official member of the Royal Family.
The Royal Family plays several important roles in Genovia. Most importantly, it determins the Order of Succession. The Order of Succession is the sequence of members of the
Royal Family in the order in which they stand in line to the throne. According to the Royal Charter, the Crown may only pass to a member of the Royal Family who is directly related to the Queen by blood, either by the traditional Order of Succession or by the Queen's choosing.
The Royal Family also is involved in other areas of Genovian Society. Each member of the Royal Family is asked by the Queen each year to become a Royal Representative to an established Genovian Charity. Often, the Queen asks members of the Royal Family to act as viceroys to the Queen during State Functions as well.
The Order of Precedence determines the seniority of members of the Royal
Family at official events and is influenced by a variety of laws, and by custom
and tradition. Precedence among members of the Royal Family at private events is
a matter for The Queen's discretion.
